Think back to when you were younger. What was your favorite fairy tale as a child?

Was there one story in particular that you loved to read over and over again?

Why did you like it so much?

Explain.

  1. When I was younger my favorite fairy tale was Lady and The Tramp. I really enjoyed this story because it was showing two dogs, which are one of my favorite animals, that fell in love and it was really cute to watch them fall in love with each other. I also enjoyed the movie because it taught kids that all relationships go through ups and downs but you just have to push through and it’ll all work out in the end. It also showed kids how to take care of younger children which I thought was smart to put in a children's movie because as you grow up it’s really important to know how to take care of a baby.

    1. Same! As a kid, I also loved Lady and The Tramp because I loved dogs too and I think you made really good points on the story and movie.

  2. I didn't really watch or listen to fairy tales, I usually didn't watch movies or read books. The shows I would watch would be like My Big Big Friend and like The Backyardigans. In terms of books I didn't read many, but I had one book that was called Swish Swish Hawaiian Fish and I would read it all the time in the bath because it was waterproof.

    3. Yess I completely agree with your statement, Backyardians is the best show! But when I was younger I was sacred of them, I don't know why but they would seem creepy to me.

  3. My favourite fairy tale as a kid was (and still kind of is) Rapunzel/Tangled. The movie came out about a year before my little sister was born, and I remember loving the movie. The animation was amazing, the characters were charming and it was overall a really well written movie. Its still one of my favourite Disney movies (other than The Emperors New Groove, because thats the best Disney movie and you can't change my mind) and it'll always have a special place in my heart.

  4. One of my favourite fairy tales when I was really young was Beauty and the Beast. This movie taught people to never judge people because of their looks but on their personality. Although I watched Beauty and the Beast a lot I didn't really watch fairy tales. I mostly watched tv shows like Special agent Oso, The Backyardigans, Toopy and Binoo, Max and Ruby and the list goes on! When I was about 3 years old I loved reading Dora the explorer. I was obsessed with those books.

  5. My favorite fairytale was tinker bell because I loved her powers as a kid and I loved how it also connected with Peter Pan and captain hook. I honedtly cant remember the story as much as I used too but I remeber being obbsesd with tinkerbel and beuty and the beast. I dressed up one halloween as tinkerbell and the year after as belle and it was just so fun as a kid to think you had the same powers. Those two stories are mostly what made up my childhood.

  6. One of my favorite fairy tales as a kid and probably still is now, is Cinderella. I really liked this movie because Cinderella teaches the morals of kindness towards all, forgiving others for doing wrong, and never letting bad things ruin your heart. She taught me to never give up and that luck can easily change your life. One story in particular that I loved to read over and over again when I was young was Puff the magic dragon. I used to love singing to the song (of which I knew all the words by heart), I had the CD on repeat daily, I always came up with a different ending every time I read it.

  7. My favourite fairy tale as a child was probably The Little Mermaid, I used to enjoy singing the songs from the movie all the time! I’ve read the book as a kid, and I loved it too. I loved this fairy tale because I loved mermaids and it was a very big interest for me as a kid, and it was about underwater and above water life and how she was a mermaid who wanted to know what life would be like above water, and then she fell in love, it’s kind of like the saying when you wonder if the grass is greener on the other side, that was the same for Ariel. My favourite character in the movie was definitely Flounder for me because he was always clumsy and funny!

    1. I totatlly agree with you! The little Mermaird was one of my first fairy tales so it will always have a special place in my heart. I also loved how there was more then one movie to the series, not to mention the television program! I think my favourite was The Little Mermaid: Whale of a Tale.

  8. I didn't really have a favorite fairy tale back then. I did like read books. There was this one book that I really liked and it was called "The Incredible Book Eating Boy". It was about this boy that ate books and he got smarter and smarter until it got all mixed up. I loved and would read it again and again. I liked it because, well, it was funny that he was EATING books. I also liked it how whatever book he ate, he would have all the knowledge in the book. He ate books like food. His favorite books would be red books. I also liked how he was getting smarter than everyone around him and just knew everything. I also learned from the book that too much of a good thing is a bad thing because he eats so much that he gets confused and then isn't that smart anymore. Even today I enjoy reading it.

  9. Well when I was younger I didn't particularly enjoy watching any fairytales but something that did
enjoy watching was PBS kids. The shows that I liked watching was Arthur, Clifford The Big Red dog and Sesame Street but mainly Arthur, when I think back to when I was younger the Plot for the storyline on some episodes were very dark like on one of the episodes D.W was worried that her parents were going to get a divorce. A book that I liked to read over and over again was The Pout-Pout book, to be honest I don't remember how the story goes but I do remember enjoying to read this book I also, remember it as a Dr.Seuss's format.

  10. Growing up, I was never really the biggest fan of fairy tales, I just found them boring in general, but one that I really liked was Sleeping Beauty. I don't know why but something about always amused me, it might've been because it involved fairies and I had wanted to be one, but Sleeping Beauty was definitely one of my favorite fairy tales. The only fairytale book I read was Peter Pan because it was easy to read and I didn't want to read so I would just go and read that.

  11. As a kid, I remember one of my favorite fairy tales was Tangled. I always loved how pretty Rapunzel's hair was and wished that I could have magical hair like her. I loved the story so much that I got so many games and different books based off of the movie that I watched over and over again. I also had a Rapunzel's dress costume because I just loved how beautiful it looked on her. I can still remember how I would pretend like I had a pet chameleon who I was going on an adventure with so that I could imagine myself as a princess in the story.

  12. I loved the fairy tale Cinderella as a kid and I still love it to this day. I even went to watch the movie when it came out in theaters and a few years later I went to see the broadway show. Cinderella is my favourite Disney princess and will always continue to be. A book that I loved to read over and over again is The Nutcracker. I liked the book because it was musical and had the songs for each part of the story. I loved the book so much that I even named my sister after the main character “Clara”.

  13. Growing up, fairy tales were a big part of my childhood so it's hard to pick just one favourite. One I did seem to enjoy more then the others was Beauty & the Beast. I can't really remeber the specific reason of why I loved this fairy tale so much but my mom says it's because I always felt bad for the Beast and the other characters who lived in the castle and who were forgotten by everyone. Back then I loved the stories where charcaters would fall in love so maybe because of the twist in this romance it captured my attention. Till this day I always like to say my thoughts of movies while it's playing or predict things that might happen so I can remember myself talking bad about Gaston because he always ruined everything and made Belle uncomfortable. Plus I never understood why everyone in the story was so crazy about Gaston because he really wasn't good looking lol.

  14. When I was younger, my favourite fairy tale would for sure have to be The Little Mermaid. I loved it so much that whenever I would be swimming I would put flippers on and pretend I was a mermaid just like Ariel. The main reason why I loved it so much is because I really liked her sea creature friends and that they were so funny and friendly.

  15. Well to be honest growing up I wasn't the biggest fan of story tales, I really don't know or remember why but I do know that I was obsessed with Diego. And my parents got me a book for him and even a bed sheet so every night (almost) we would read that book. The reason that I found that the book was interesting was that that book wanted to make me go to the jungle and go ahead and save so animals, while living in a tree house ! That lifestyle seemed so cool to me and all I wanted in the whole world was to go meet him in the jungle. Finally there's the bio dome every time we went there I would freak because it was so cool to be in a jungle"even tho it wasn't really".

  16. I also was obsessed with Diego and his Chita. When I was younger I got a Diego and Dora card game that wasn't even a good game.

  17. When I was a kid, my favorite story was little red riding hood! I know you might say "BuT ATeeB It'S noT a fairy tale it's a FabLe" and I disagree. I personally really love little red riding hood because it teaches a very good lesson, or two... The first lesson is the more obvious one, never trust strangers, even if they seem nice. The second lesson that it has taught me, the less obvious one, is that never judge a book by it's cover. The part of the book where it's demonstrated is how at the start the wolf seems innocent and nice, but at the end, we learn he is a cold blooded murderer.

  18. I don't really remember when I was small but I do remember that I loved Snow White and Puss in boots. When I went to my bubbie’s house she had a lot of Disney movies on VHS and one of them was Snow white and I would ask to watch it over and over again. I also remember asking my parents to read my Puss and boots all the time and when I saw the movie I was so happy. I think I like Snow White so much because all the animals and their little house looked so cozy and peaceful. I think I liked Puss and Boots because I love cats and I loved cats even when I was a baby and when I saw him all dressed up with his hat and boots it was just awesome.

  19. When I was little my favourite fairytale was Cinderella. I was obsessed with the book and movie. I would have my parents read me the book every night and I would watch the movie multiple times during the day. I remember loving the story because of Jaq and Gus, they made the story so funny and added the fun and excitement to the story. I also thought Cinderella was the most beautiful person and princess to ever exist. I used to love all of the outfits she would wear (including her cleaning dress). I remember loving the whole setting of the story and having a castle where there was a castle you could see outside her window with royalty. I loved how magical the story was and how happy it made me.

  20. When I was younger my favorite fairy tale wasanyting really with princesses but I think my favorite was definitely beauty and the beast. A story I used to read over and over was Max and Ruby because it was my favorite show and I had a special connection to it because I went with my grandma to go see Max and Ruby and it was like the highlight of my life until I was like 7.

  21. My favourite fairy tale is not a book, it's a movie. I probably watched this movie over and over and over again. The name of it is Tangled. I used to watch this movie all the time when I was little. I loved the story, the character, but my favourite one of all had to be Pascal, a chameleon and Rapunzel's best friend. I like this movie because it had some funny parts, sad parts, and happy parts. Rapunzel's character grew a lot during this movie and that's another part I like about it. She was shy and didn't know what the outside world looked like, until she got the confidence to go out of her castle and have an adventure.

  22. My favorite fairy tale as a kid was definitely ‘Tangled’. I don’t even know what I liked so much about it, it was just my favorite. I think that I liked it so much because Rapunzel had the coolest hair. I for sure wished that I could have hair that you can climb up. Plus it had magical powers!! She just seemed as if she always had so much fun and she was go adventurous. She even had a pet lizard that was the cutest thing in the world.

  23. My favorite fairytale is probably Hansel and Gretel. I don't know why but I just loved listening to Hansel and Gretel read to me by my brother (he was practicing his reading skills) It brought the fear in me when Hansel and Gretel was being abandoned by their parents that were supposed to love and care for us most. The adrenaline while I was reading this book was massive, but at the same time, I was amazed with everything like the gingerbread house covered in candy, I wanted one too! My other favorite fairytale was probably cinderella, Momotarõ and Tangled

  24. My favorite fairytale is Cinderella. I honestly don't know why its my favorite story but I LOVE it. When I was little I loved to sing and I loved to dress up so for halloween I dressed up as Cinderella when I was 4. My parents were showing me photos of how excited I was when they got me the dress! I also remember, when I was 6 years old, my family and I went on a disney cruise and I got to meet her, take pictures with her and I got her signature in my disney note book, it was truly magical. One of my favorite books to read was Peter Pan. Ever since I first read that book I've always wanted to fly. I loved Tinker Bell, I don't know, I guess I just loved the concept of flying and having wings. I also got to meet Peter Pan and Tinker Bell on the cruise which was pretty cool because Peter Pan was on a zip line and I actually thought he was flying, I even asked if he could show me Neverland! haha.
