Thanksgiving Holiday is about giving THANKS and showing GRATITUDE!
This year, 2020, has been quite challenging to say the least!
However, we should show THANKS and GRATITUDE.
What does Thanksgiving mean to you? Your family?
What are some things that you are THANKFUL/GRATEFUL for?
Explain.
I love thanksgiving, the turkey, all of the delicious food that goes with it and spending quality time with family. But it's not all that it is about. To me thanksgiving is also a time of year to reflect on what you are grateful for.Take the time to appreciate all of the amazing things that I have. I am grateful to have a family, to be healthy, to have a home, an education, food, clean water and the list goes on. Some people don't have anything of the things I just named.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am also very thankful that my family has stayed safe and healthy. It's also great that you said how grateful you are about having education, clean water, food, etc. Great blog!! :)
DeleteThank you

DeleteI love it when my mum makes Yorkshire pudding for thanksgiving
DeleteWhen I was younger thanksgiving was just a time to see family and enjoying some great food but this year made me realize diffrently that were a lot luckier then we seem to look at things. I used to be like when I was a kid like why couldnt I have gotten a new sweater for example and I was always asking for things but ive realized how thankful I am for the things I have recived already. Its hard to think other people have less but sadly its the truth and this year especially, we should give others a reason to be very thankful. I am so thankful for the life I live with the people I care about around me.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think I have definitely realized that we are much luckier than we would usually think. Before we would get to see our family and friends during this holiday but now we can only see our immediate family.
DeleteThanksgiving is a holding that I celebrate with a lot of my family and friends. My family lives in different places in Canada so we don't get to see everyone every year for any festival, for Thanksgiving is mostly friends but for other holidays its mostly family. Me and my family would usually celebrate Thanksgiving at my aunts house because she makes the best turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing, my favorite is stuffing. This year is much different unfortunately because of COVID- 19. I am very grateful thats its just a virus pandemic and not anything too serious. I am very excited for Thanksgiving and all the good food I will get to eat(which I am also very grateful for).#Ilovetoeat
ReplyDeleteI have the same traditions I usually dont celebrate thanksgiving at my house its usually at my grandmother's house exept for this year.
DeleteThanksgiving to me is thanking all the good things that happened that year. I also think of it as a way to get together and have a good time. To our family, it really is mostly the feast of the turkey. Somethings that I am thankful for is that I have a roof over my head, I have an education, clean water, clean food and clothes to wear. I thank all those people that have helped or worked so that I could have this good life. I thank Canada for being such a nice place to live in.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with that statement of having a roof over our head with education and much more.
DeleteYeah, it is really nice to not have to worry about education, your house or your foods, I'm thankful for that too.
DeleteI love thanksgiving! Fall is my favourite season and I feel that Thanksgiving makes it really feel like fall. I’m a really picky eater so I don’t really love the food at Thanksgiving but I still eat it because I’m scared of my mom and aunt who spend all day cooking it. My favourite part of Thanksgiving is being with my cousins and having wars in the basement. To me and my family Thanksgiving is a time where we can all get together and usually celebrate all of the tough things we have overcome that year. This year I am thankful that so far no one in my family has been affected by the coronavirus. It has been scary with most of my family being older but they have all stayed safe and healthy and I am so thankful and grateful for that.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving does make it seem like fall! I'm also thankful that no one in my family has covid. I really liked reading your blog.
DeleteEmma I love that you play wars with your cousins in your basement, I think that's super cool and fun. Great blog!!
DeleteMy thanksgiving's are very similar to yours, pretty chaotic with the cousins war and running around in the basement. Great blog :)
DeleteTo my family thanksgiving isn't always about having turkey like one year we had chicken and it wasn't a big deal. To us its about being together and when I mean together that I mean with my aunts, uncles and grandparents. Then right before eating we say what are thankful for and most of the time we say things like clean clothes, a roof above our head, food and most importantly health and each other. Finally I am extremely thankful is my grandfather recovering from the coronavirus and no-one else in my family catching it from him.
ReplyDeleteMy Family also before eating are thanksgiving meal say what we're grateful for.
DeleteYes, I also find that the true meaning of thanksgiving is spending time with family and being grateful for the time we have with them.
DeleteThanksgiving is just a time for me and my family to eat good food and get together with my cousins to eat turkey and mashed potatos and stuff. I'm thankful for being lucky and being born in Canada where we don't have to worry about if we will be able to eat tommorow or worry about if I get could possibly get mugged or like attacked while going to school. It's crazy to think that some people live in a world without electricity or without any form of sustainable food to get them through the week.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is a holiday that I love. Thanksgiving is of the few holidays where all of my family and sometimes friends get together for a big dinner. On thanksgiving day, is when I really show thanks for all I have and grateful for. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we will not be having a family dinner all together. We will probably do a group FaceTime or Zoom. It's weird how I don't get to see my aunt, uncle and little cousins anymore. We are really close and I was seeing them almost every weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm really thankful for all of my family. A few more things that I'm thankful for are my dogs, school, having a phone, having a home, my friend group, and the list goes on. Out of all of that list the ones that I most thankful for are my family and my friend group. They are so special to me and I never want to loose them. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Facts! I love Thanksgiving as well. I can definitely relate to the part on not getting to see family outside of school. Great blog!!
DeleteGreat points made! A Zoom Thanksgiving would definitely be something to try lol.
DeleteMy family usually celebrates our thanksgiving with our neighbour and our family friends. Usually we just use thanksgiving as an excuse to eat a lot of food and stay up really late playing board games. His year is thankful for not dying because my odds of dying this year were higher than most years, I’m also thankful that none of my family died either, I’m thankful for my cat coming back when she escaped two weeks ago and much more. His year was harder than most but we should still be thankful because we could have it way easier than most.
ReplyDeleteThat's so much fun that you spend Thanksgiving with your neighbours and friends. It sounds like you guys have a lot of fun. Great job!
DeleteIn my opinion, Thanksgiving is a holiday to reflect on who you're thankful for, why you're thankful for them, and let them know. You obviously don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to tell someone thank you for being there, but there is a dedicated day for that. I don’t usually do anything on Thanksgiving, I don’t really know why but I guess my family just never really had any traditions that they wanted to do with my sister and I. I’m definitely thankful for my family and that they provide me with food, a stable home, clothes, etc. But I’m also extremely thankful for my friends, they always help me through so much and I don’t know what I’d do without some of them.
ReplyDeleteMy thanksgivings and any other holidays are pretty chaotic because, I have a huge Italian family. So it's very noisy and tons of little kids running around. Despite that, there's always a lot of amazing food. Every holiday we say grace and go around the table saying what we are grateful for. I am grateful for a bunch of things such as family, friends, having a roof over our heads, clothes, and so many more. We are very lucky that we live here because a lot of people in different places don't have what we have so we must be grateful, which I am.
ReplyDeleteI love the part where you mentioned what you're gratful for!!
DeleteFor thanksgiving, me and my family eat brunch together at around 12 and we all sleep in. We sit at the table and we say what we’re grateful for and we usually watch a movie. This year I’m making them re watch The Shining with me because it’s one of my favorite movies. After that we usually do whatever we want and just relax.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! I love sleeping in too, especially after to eat brunch, yum!!
DeleteHonestly thanks given for me is just a day were you eat a insane amount of food, are family doesn't exactly have any traditions like I know that in America tradition is to play football I've played football once and it was at my elementary school for about twenty minutes. Some things that I'm thankful for is my family of course, having a place to eat, sleep, do homework and other things I like to do. And finally my friends who genially like me for who I am.
ReplyDeleteThis right here is so true. Im stuffed after thanksgiving! Good blog
DeleteOn Thanksgiving, my family and I always went to my grandparents house, where they hosted dinner for us. My grandma always cooked most of the meals and me and my family would bring appetizers and snacks or desserts. To me, Thanksgiving is about being grateful and happy for everything you have and received. I’m very lucky and thankful to have such great family, friends, food, health and a home as well. But now since Covid-19 happened, we won’t be able to have get-togethers, but at least we all still have each other!
ReplyDeleteI always go to my grandparents on thanksgiving too ,so sad it will be a little different this year!
DeleteOn Thanksgiving, I usually go to my great aunt's house to see my aunts, uncles and cousins for dinner. This year I can't do that for obvious reasons, but I think ill be fine with just my family this year. Im grateful to be able to have the things that I do, to have food and water, because I know not everyone can have that. Im very lucky.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is definitely one of a kind at my house. Although it isn't one of my family's most important holidays, we still celebrate it regardless. Usually at Thanksgiving it's my family and my grandparents on my dad's side. Like most people we go around the table and name things we are grateful for before digging into the delicious dinner my mom and grandmother prepare. Something that’s different though is the food we eat at dinner, my mom likes to do things out of the ordinary so usually we don’t eat the traditional Thanksgiving foods. This year I’m grateful that no one I love got sick with Covid-19, and I’m also grateful to have a roof over my head on food on my plate. I’m also for getting rid of anything toxic in my life and starting fresh.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool how you don't eat the traditional thanksgiving food and your mom tries something new!! Great blog.
DeleteThanksgiving to me and my family is all about spending time with each other. We never really get to be together because of school, work, my brother’s hockey practices, etc. It’s one of the few days where we can spend time together as a family. Something I’m very thankful for is my family and friends. I know everyone says that, but it’s true. They help me through so much and I don’t know where I would be without them in my life.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving means spending time with family and friends, appreciating what we have in life and of course a huge part of thanksgiving for my family is enjoying delicious home cooked foodS and goods.Im grateful that I’m able to play sports ,get clothes ,get grocery’s ,experience fun trips, spend time with family and friends while making unforgettable memories and get a good education e.t.c I’m so thankful for all of my friends and family because they have a huge impact in my life!
ReplyDeleteI am also grateful for the things that you said you were, like "able to play sports ,get clothes ,get grocery’s ,experience fun trips." Good job on your Blog! :)
DeleteI comepletly agree that thanksgiving is a day to spend time with those you love and care for. Great blog!

ReplyDeleteThanksgiving to my family Is probably mostly about the food whether it's main meal or the dessert.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanksgiving is the time of year to reflect on what you are grateful for. The things I'm grateful for this year is my family and friends not getting covid (knock on wood), having a roof over my head, having access to 3 meals a day and last but not least, being able to play sports during this time.
To me thanksgiving is a holiday meant for being thankful to those that have shown you kindness. I’m thankful for always having my family to count on and knowing that they will always be there for me. I’m also thankful for having friends to do things with and to be myself with. I have a friend who I can do anything with and I know that we will be friends forever.
ReplyDeleteNow here's the funny thing... I've never celebrated thanksgiving with my family. So to answer "what does it mean to you and your family..." It doesn't mean too much, as we've never experienced the joy of the holiday. This year, I am thankful that all of my friends and family have not caught the novel coronavirus.
ReplyDeleteMe and my family don't usually do much for thanksgiving. I mostly spend it with my friends instead, and we have a turkey dinner and have a little party. It would just be our way of celebrating since most of my actual family doesn't really celebrate thanksgiving, and it's always nice to spend a holiday with others. Some things that I am grateful for are my friends, family, education, a place to live and all the basic human needs that I have access to.
