Do you and your family like to tell each other stories? What is one of the BEST/WORST stories about YOU! My family don't really talk to each other that much but if we do encounter each other at the dinner table. We start talking about our day and what annoys us. We sometimes share stories about our school or our childhood. My parents ALWAYS talk about their childhood and how my grandparents educate them, or we talk about how my dad has 12 dogs and 8 cats and how I should get a cat.
My family usually shares stories about their day at the dinner table and sometimes we talk about funny memories which I guess you can consider as stories. I have many odd and funny stories that I cannot explain about myself. For instance, when I was younger I was a really big brat. My family took me and my three brothers to get checkups (my two older brothers were around 4 and me and my twin brother were still about 9 months old) and they were all doing well (staying quiet and patient) except for me. When it was my turn I screamed and kicked, that doctor was not touching me. My parents told me that they had to pin my hands and feet down and also that all the doctors and nurses hated me. Now I can see why!
My parents usually tell stories to others about me and one that I hate and its that when I was little it was naptime and I didn't want to sleep so I painted the walls with poo and my parents had to clean it all up. And I find it super embarrassing when they tell this story.
I really enjoy telling and listening to stories. My family and I usually exchange stories at the dinner table. One story about me is that when I was pretty young my sister and I were supposed to get ready for bed. We were both laughing for some reason that I can remember. Anyways, I was drinking water and she said something super funny. I tried so hard to keep the water in my mouth and instead of coming out of my mouth water came out of my nose. My nose hurt so bad but my sister and I were laughing so hard.
Omg the same thing happened to me once. We were sitting at a table and my parents were talking to someone and out of nowhere I just thought of something funny and the water just came spraying out of my nose. The entire restaurant started staring at me, it was quite horrific. LMAO
Me and my family love to tell each other stories. We usually do it around the Dinner Table but sometimes we do it on a long car ride. I remember this one time my family and I were out in mountains camping, and we were eating on the beach when we could see a HUGE thunderstorm rolling in. I remember my parents telling me and my sister to get swimming because the storm would be the last thing we would do on that trip. ( we were going to be leaving that day anyway) So we go and swim while my parents packed up and got ready to go back to the camp site, which was already packed up and in the car. We heard the thunder roar across the mountains and it was the loudest I've ever heard in my life. I was around 7 at the time and my sister was 4, so she was really scared. I remember us and everyone else getting out of the water and starting to go back to each of our camp sites. Then I swear I saw a lighting hit 40 feet ahead of me. I saw a HUGE flash and the thunder was terrifying. I remember my sister stopped walking and started crying. My dad gave the camping stuff that he was carrying to a family friend that was also there with us, and then he picked my sister up and RAN to the car. (I can't remember how far away it actually was, but I think it was like a half a kilometer to the campsite. I started pouring and the we all ran to the car. We all pilled in and left.
I don’t personally like to tell my family stories, I find it boring and honestly it can turn into a conflict at my house which isn’t very fun at all. I think that my worst story is when I had an allergic reaction while I was on vacation, it was not fun. My best story is very recent and it’s how my family is getting a baby labrador puppy in a little over three weeks which I’m so excited about!
Your right about one of the risks of telling stories to your family especially stories about your family is creating conflict but most of the time my siblings want to create conflict for some unknown reason.
At my house we always tell stories. One of my favourite stories about myself was when I was younger around grade 1, so many people in my class had glasses and I was always so jealous of this one girl with these beautiful purple glasses and I always wanted them. So when I was younger I used to cross my eyes and make everything hard to see and I used that as an excuse to tell my parents that I needed glasses. So when we went to the eye doctor she asked me a bunch of questions like can you see this or that and I lied on all of the tests and said I saw almost nothing like the little kid I was. So when it came time to buy the glasses I found the pretty purple ones that my friend had and without trying them on we bought them. Later that week and $300 later I went to school wearing the glasses and after a few months I decided I didn't like them and since I lied about the prescription I could hardly see in them. So I hid the glasses in my bag and I would take them off when I was going to school. After mysteriously loosing my glasses I told my parents my eyesight got better and I didn't need them anymore so they didn't bother looking for them. Years later when I was 11 they found the glasses and I told them the whole story looking back and laughing but they were mad at me anyways. This lasted years and they said they would never buy another pair for me even if I needed it.
My family and I love telling stories to each other. It's either me telling a funny story from the day or my mom telling me something that happened at her work. When I was younger, my nana used to make up stories about Dora the Explorer that I used to laugh about for hours! So this story is more like "Wow Abby, you're such an idiot!". Anyways this happened a few months ago, I was supposed to be walking to my Uncle's, wife's, mom's house, that I've walked to many, many times before. So I was like, "mom I'll be fine walking on my own" and she was like "Ok! See you later". So I went and everything was fine. I was on time, the sun was shining until I realised I had no clue where I was. I knew the area but the house was no where in sight. So, of course, I was freaking out and I called my mom and she was like "Oh Abby! What are we going to do with you?" So I showed her where I was and she gave me the directions and I was there, I just came from the wrong way. I didn't recognise the back of her house.
My dad always tells us stories on our annual camping trip every year. One of my favorite ones was this one. He was in college and him and his friends wanted to go outside to relax in the fresh air, so they brought their matresses and were relxing outside. Out of nowhere, a bunch of birds start flying on top of them and sh*tting on them. They garbbed their matresses to protect them and starting running inside.
We don't really tell stories at all, my sister will sometimes walk up to me and tell me how someone annoyed her and she doesn't like them but apart from that occaisonal story here and there, there isn't many stories that I listen too from my siblings. Not many stories are told about any of my siblings because we really didn't do anything interesting
When I tell stories to my family there normally about things that either just happened in my life or talk about stories of when I was a kid. The story I'm about to tell you about is the same story that I said in english class as my story but my family still makes fun of me for it. When I was younger around seven or six me and my brother were in the forest trying to look for cool things in nature and at the time we lived in the country so there was much to explore. Anyways me and my brother found a deer jaw and at the time we loved Mario Bros so we were all over Mario hype. So when I found the deer jaw all I thought was the turtle that throws the boomerang in Mario Bros so I threw the deer jaw at my brothers head like an idiot and hit his for head and blood started gushing out to put it short that's how I got scared of blood and my parents grounded me.
My family tells me stories all the time and they usually are all the same, how I do embarrassing things in stores. My mom wanted to stop by the grocery store on our way home so my mom, my brother and I all went in. My mom asked us to go get her some sauce she needed for dinner so we went to get in a different aisle. We found the sauce on the bottom row so I kneel down to grab it, then my brother thinks it would be funny to push me over while I'm kneeling down. I fall into the shelf and knock over all sorts of stuff, my brother starts laughing and then he runs away to my mom. While half of my body is inside of a shelf with a bunch of knocked over cracker boxes I hear someone say “Emma Mills?” I still to this day am not sure who said that because I stayed inside the shelf and did not come out until I was sure they were gone.
My dad tells some pretty weird/funny stories. For example, he told me about a time that he wanted to listen to "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" by the Beatles, but he accidentally played the William Shatner version. He proceeded to show me a bunch of William Shatner covers, and I was weirded out but also laughing my head off. The worst story I can think of at the moment was in 1st grade a kid threw up on me, and as a reflex I slapped him in the face.
Any time the family gets together we all go around sharing our funny stories until everyone is having a fit of laughter. Usually the stories we tell are funny things that happened on vacation or maybe something we saw on the internet. Sometimes it may even be just a random funny thought we had. At dinner time, we go around and share about the day we had and maybe something interesting that happened.
One time I was hanging out with some friends and one of them brought timbits for us so we were eating them peacefully until people started approaching us and no one knew we had tidbits so all 3 of us were rushing to hide the timbits and one of my friends shoved 2 in her mouth, the other was stashing the box and well I didn’t have enough time to finish mine so as the people were getting closer, I panicked and just threw my jelly timbit into my friends lunchbox and immediately my eyes widened and I regretted it but there was no time to apologize because the people had reached our table and all 3 of us were trying to contain our laughter and not choke on our timbits.( I apologized to my friend later and thankfully the timbit didn’t make a big mess in her lunch bag.)
My family sometimes does tell stories and when I was little My mom used to read me stories. I regret that I stopped doing that with her because I really used to love reading with her. I think a good/bad/sad/happy story about me is that I was born a premature baby. I was born three months and three days early being born on September 5th instead of December 5th. I had to stay in an incubator for four months and from what my family has told me was that they were there alongside me to support me the whole time. I was lucky both me and my mom survived but I’m really glad I’m alive today because if not I would not have had the chance to experience all that I have.
My family does not really tell stories. My Bubby used to sometimes tell stories about her dog Chewbacca, but now the only person that really tells stories is my neighbour Jane. I think the story about me that comes up the most is the one about when we went to Barcelona when i was a baby. Apparently I wanted to go into the lion cage and cuddle them. I guess I've loved cats/felines since forever.
I LOVE telling stories with my family. Especially my extended family, like my aunts, uncles and cousins. I like hearing stories from when my parents were younger and how similar they were to ma and my brother now. I cant think of any stories at the moment, but I definitely do have a bunch of fun ones stored in my brain somewhere.
Me and my family share stories sometimes about when I was little and some silly things I did and what my brother did. I can't think of a great story to tell but what I do know is that they are all funny. Most of the time now I just tell stories about what happens at school or after school. Example, when my mom came to pick me up with her big white truck, mr Katz was crossing the street and she stopped right in front of him. I knew she was not going to run him over but I still shouted "don't run over my english teacher".
