Blog 25 - Monday, January 11, 2021

There will only be ONE (1) blog this week!
No school FRIDAY!

At some point this week, I will be celebrating my birthday :).

However, like everyone else, I will have to celebrate alone.

Have you had a COVID birthday? How did you spend it?
If you had to have a second COVID birthday, would you do something different?

If none of these questions apply, tell me about your BEST/WORST birthday!

Explain.

  1. Right before Covid started and closed everything on march 13th, my birthday was march 4th during the march break and the week before I got to spend my birthday at a restaurant with my bestfriends. I got really lucky considering that my birthday was almost cancelled. Also people decorate other people's lockers on their birthday but the week we came back to school after march break I was feeling kinda sick so I was out for most of the week and I ended up only showing up on thursday. My friend's had decorated my locker at the start of the week and were so exited when I finally saw my locker. I was planning not going in on thrusday because I wasent feeling 100% but im glad I went or else I would have missed out. I got very lucky on my birthday also since my dad got me hockey tickets and we ended up seeing the last montreal canadiens game before the shutdown.

  2. I did have a COVID birthday but I got lucky that it was earlier on in November when we could still go places and there was no lockdown. I spent it by going to Carrefour Laval with some friends and doing some shopping. We walked around before going home and getting takeout. It rather depends on the situation we are in, if COVID measures were still as serious as they are now, then yes I’d probably do something different. I’d probably just stay home and get take out, have a cake and just celebrate it with my family.

  3. My Birthday was in the summer so basically my sister and my mom invited a few of my friends over and we decided to go swimming a bit, we hung out a lot, we ate food, etc. Obviously I would’ve loved to do something else but because of covid, I wasn’t able to. If I had a second covid birthday, I probably wouldn’t change what I did, except maybe I would’ve gone to starbucks with friends or maybe I would’ve kept it the same, but I don’t really know.

    1. Sounds like you would have had a great time with our friends if COVID wasn't here. Great blog!

  4. I have already had a Covid birthday which was a little early in November and it was somewhat not that bad. I spent that birthday by going downtown to go shopping with a friend. I found it really fun because shopping is a hobby that I’m obsessed with doing. And we also walked around downtown to get my favourite foods and snacks. Obviously with this pandemic that’s been going on, I probably would’ve done something different but I’m still really grateful that we were able to do this right before the second lockdown.

  5. Yes I had a covid birthday. It was a party where we pretty much just stayed up all night long playing game that were organized before. I really enjoyed my last covid birthday, even though its nothing like the real thing its the best we can do in this situation. I would make the same style type of party if it where for my second covid birthday.

  6. My birthday is in April so I had to spend it alone with my family. We just bought food and a cake and I watched the office alone in the basement and talked with my friends. This year if there's still covid I'm probably going to go for a walk and listen to music, facetime my friends and watch tv, since there isn't much to do.

  7. I had a covid birthday it was when covid was at one of its worst nothing was open except for grocery stores and I wasn't allowed to see anyone so it pretty much sucked. Although my sister and my mom made me a cake. I have no idea how I would spend my birthday if it was during covid again. If I were allowed I would see my family and probably a little group of my closest friends.

  8. I was lucky enough to have my birthday in February, before the pandemic. I went out with friends and we went on the big Ferris Wheel in the old port. We went out for a nice dinner and we stopped at the top of the Ferris Wheel and got some nice pictures. One thing that I can remember from that night was a small conversation about Corona Virus cases in China. We had no idea back then that the virus would spread so quickly and we would be in a lock down.

  9. I just recently had my 13th birthday on December 19th just after we started Christmas break. I got to hang out with my cousin Ella, our friend Maddie and Ella’s older sister Olivia. We went skating in Vaudreuil at a huge rink and then Ella’s aunt brought us over some hot chocolate and cookies. We played in the park afterwards and then it was time for Maddie to be picked up. Then, the rest of us went back to Ella’s house to decorate cookies and watch tv and hang out. Later on, I went back to my house for really great greasy pizza with a dairy queen birthday cake. Overall, it was a pretty good birthday. I just wish I could’ve spent it with more people.

  10. I had a covid birthday at the beginning of November. I spent it with 2 of friends who I have seen the most often during the pandemic. We had lots of fun, it actually wasn't cold at all that day. We went on my trampoline, we had snacks in my gazebo and we went on a walk with my dog. I had lots of fun and I don't think i would change anything about that:))

  11. I had my birthday in late april, where covid decided to say. "you know what would be a good idea? LETS BECOME MORE INFECTOUS". So you can assume that my birthday was a very covid birthday. It was pretty boring, i didnt do anything at all tbh. I wouldnt do anything different, probably cause my birthday is a day where i *want* to sleep for 24 hours :D.

  12. I had a COVID birthday. I'm born on September 18 so when school started and the virus kicked in but we were still be able to go to school (with masks on of course) I went to school on my birthday and i said hi to a lot of my friends and i had macdonald's after school :) If i had a 2nd covid birthday, i'd probably stay inside, my mom will cook something for the family and spend time together, maybe i'll talk to some friends on the phone, just the same old stuff :>

  13. My birthday is mid to late May, right around the time that everything was getting bad. I had to spend my time with my family, which wasn't horrible. At that time nobody knew what COVID was, and we had to be careful because we all we knew was masks and social distancing help against it. I don't think I would change too much about my birthday all in all. It was one of the weirdest birthdays I think I will ever have though.

  14. I had a covid birthday during october, it honestly wasn that bad because I usually prefer to not do much on my birthday and just chill all day. If I have another covid birthday I probably won`t do anything difference because I just want to chill all day and not do much apart from eat cake and talk to my family.

  15. My birthday is at the end of March, so COVID-19 hit right before my birthday. I had a normal birthday otherwise, but I was looking forward to doing something with my friends that year and I couldnt. I dont really care about my own birthday as much as others, because I literally can't forget peoples birthdays. Once you tell me I will remember for a very long time, which sounds creepy but its pretty handy. Seeing how the government is handling this new wave of the virus I will most likely have another COVID-19 birthday, and to be honest I could not care less.

  16. On my Covid-19 birthday from the morning to noon, all I did was play video games, a normal day. For the after-noon I went to a golf simulator (because it was winter). It really wasn't anything different from my normal Birthday, for me your day of birth is just a normal day except people say Happy Birthday and you have something special to eat. There's really nothing I would change for my second Covid Birthday except maybe I could also do some snowboarding. Happy Birthday Mr.Katz.

  17. My birthday was in the summer so at that point we were allowed to have a small bubble, so one day my best friend came over and we just stayed outside and watched a movie on the ipad and swam. At the beginning of the quarantine since my family was only four and at the very beginning before the quarantine started I was quarantined with my two neighbours, and when they opened the quarantine to two families we started quarantining with another family. So when my birthday came I shared it with the son of the other family because our birthdays are only like one week apart. So it was my family, the friend family(it's not a mistake) and my neighbour.

  18. oh and for the second COVID birthday. I would just reschedule

  19. So my birthday was in October. It's pretty sad what I did but there was a reason for it and it actually turned out to be my favourite birthday so far. About a week before my birthday I got really really sick and everyone thought I had corona (I obviously did not) so even though I was all better my friends parents still didn't want them near me because I WAS sick. Anyway, so I planned to have my best friend sleepover and then see my other friends at a park or the mall. So once all that got cancelled and I was sad my mom told me to go with her, my little brother and two of the neighborhood kids to the drive-thru haunted house (my birthday is the day before halloween). Basically to sum it up we sat in the car waiting in line and getting jump scared every two seconds while we blasted one direction music and I sang all their songs with three 10 year old boys. Honestly I would do the exact same thing next year if I could because it was the funniest thing that I have ever experienced :)

  20. I did have a COVID birthday and in September at the time you were still allowed to have 10 or less people in your house. I had four different birthday parties because I have a lot of family and friends so each small group had a small party for me. I had three with my mom’s family and one with my dad’s family. If I had a second COVID birthday I would want it to be the same because I stil got to see my family, but if COVID gets worse I may not be able to see my family because the restrictions will be different.

  21. I have had a covid birthday and I was not a fun one. My birthday was on the third week of Quarantine so I could see no one and that was very different than I am used to. I am hoping to not have another covid birthday but if I do I hope that at least it is better and I can see my friends.

  22. I haven't had a COVID birthday, do I don't know how bad it is. One birthday party that I remember was just last year. My birthday was right before quarantine started so I could still go out with my friends. We went to a cafe that had a bunch of games, and it was really fun. We brought a cake with us and I got to have a small party with my close friends. I'm hoping that things will get better by my next birthday, but the way things are going right now, I think that it will be a COVID birthday this year.

  23. This year I did have a covid birthday but it was when the rules weren't very strict in early December. For my covid birthday I was extremely lucky that I was able to hang out with a few friends. We walked around and looked at the Christmas lights in my neighbourhood then went home and ordered pizza! I thought that I was going to have a birthday stuck inside so I am very grateful that I got to go out and see some of my closest friends.

  24. This year my birth day was on Friday March 13th which was the very first day that school was cancelled. Since it was very early on some of my friends came over and had some cake. My birthday is in 2 months but I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I will probably just be me and my family.
