The Province of Ontario has elected to MOVE March break to end-April.
This was done so people could go back outside and obviously to slow down the virus.
Do you think Quebec should have followed Ontario?
It has been a strange year, what would this change mean for you?
Explain.
I think I would be fine either way if march break was postponed or not because I know already that during my march break I’m going to stay at home or go skiing. I do however understand why they moved march break in Ontario because it's no fun to not be able to go outside and hangout with your friends due to Covid reasons and obviously the virus needs to be slowed down. The only change that this would make for me is that I would have to go to school for a few more weeks without a break (which would be dreadful).

DeleteI don't really like the idea of changing march break because first off my birthday is in march break and i'm happy I don't need to come to school on my birthday and that I have a few extra days to celebrate. Also I find it won't make a difference which week it is because people will still be gathering either way even though they shouldn't be. I really hope that Quebec does not follow Ontario on this decision. Maybe they changed their decision because of the weather but the warmer the weather will be more people will be gathering. I don't think it will make a difference and I would prefer it to be in march.

DeleteI wouldn't want march break postponed to the end of April. We already have Easter break and having 2 breaks in April but non in march does make much sense. I don't think that moving it will solve much. People would be angry and get impatient. They would also go outside and see other people either way wither they do it now or in April. All in all I don't think Quebec should follow Ontario.

DeleteNo, I don’t think Québec should have followed Ontario. I don’t think it would have made a big difference if we pushed back the break into April, we could still have another covid wave regardless of the month. I don't agree with the majority of the things Legault says and does but keeping the break in March is probably one of the smartest things he's done. I also think people need the break to happen sooner rather than later. I know I personally need a break from work, tests and overall school.

DeleteI dont think that it would change a lot for us just because its March break not like, Christmas, valentines day, etc. But I do kind of guess Ontario changing it so they can go outside with the 2 week gap of covid. This would change a few things for me , we made a few reservations to do skiing that week so we would have to change those. But since I will be mostly playing games with my friends its really not a big deal.
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely pros and cons in this situation. Yes, it's better to skip march break and move onto april break because decrease covid-19 numbers by slowing down the virus and we're just trying our best to decrease COVID cases and maybe if we keep our numbers down during the spring we might be able to take a relaxing break during summer! :D No because 2020-2021 has been nothing but events after events. WE ARE TIRED, WE NEED THAT BREAK or we are literally all going collapse. We all need a break during this pandemic.

DeleteI think March break should stay where it is, or at least be pushed less than two weeks. I need breaks in certain periods that I am used to. I think it's a good reasoning for the break push, but I don't really think it should happen anywhere other than Ontario. Quebec has crappy weather at the end of April anyways, so it wouldnt make much of a difference for us.

DeleteI am happy that march break is in only a few days so that I don't have to wait 2 months. But it would be good to have it at the end of April so we could go outside. I think Quebec could have changed and it would be fine. During the break I won't do very much, I might go snowboarding but I will probably stay home most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI think the break should stay to next week because the virus can spread especially during breaks so if we were to move it to the end of April, there would be more risk for being locked down again but during our summer. I think breaks are good, not too close together, they should be spaced out so that you can have a balance. If Quebec did end up moving it, I would be disappointed because its so close.
ReplyDeleteI would be a bit bothered if this happened. I mean, I wouldn't be used to it, since it's been happening since I was born. I honestly think that we should keep March break where it is. People have been quarantining for a while and are probably bored out of their minds. So to have March break, it's good because it's a nice break. If it was in April, we would have to wait another month before our break. I think I need the break. School feels so slow and endless. Plus it's something to look forward too. Also, I would like to play outside in the snow in March since we are still stuck inside. In April, the weather and scenery isn't great so going outside won't be super fun.

I wouldn't really be suprised if it did happen since this year has been full of suprises but still. Although we've had quite a few ped days I still think we all deserve a break because this virus is getting old.

DeleteI don't think Quebec should follow Ontario. I don't think they should because the world has already changed so much and things have been moved around so often we need a bit of normal. Taking away march break and moving it to April is not fair to the students who have been waiting for it for a long time. We need this break and I think we need it now with all of the stress everyone has been under.

DeleteI would be pretty upset if Quebec followed Ontario by pushing the spring break to April, because I've been looking forward to the break as soon as when Christmas break ended. It would also be too late to push it back now. It wouldn't be fair to students who have looking forward to the break for a while now, we deserve to have a little break. I don't have any plans for this spring break other than spending my days outside since the weather is supposed to be amazingly warm.

DeleteI honestly don’t care whether or not we follow Ontario because one way or another, we’ll get our break. But if someone made plans at a hotel or something, it would ruin their plans. But I honestly don’t care that much about it because at this point, Covid has taken control over all of our lives so this isn’t totally unexpected.

DeleteI think that Quebec should not move the March break to the end of April because this year has already been so crazy and different so I think that changing our holidays would just make things more confusing. If they did change the dates I would be a little sad because we would have to wait almost 2 months until march break and that feels like it's forever.
ReplyDeleteI don't really feel like they should have followed Ontario. While it is clear Ontario is doing this in good intention, I feel that it just will not help prevent the spread of covid, in fact it may augment it if people decide to start going outside again. It wouldn't be too confusing, but it could also throw a monkey wrench in some teacher's plans. This would not change anything for me, except make me even more paranoid that I'm not working hard enough, and that me taking a break during an extended break would somehow make me screw up this final term.

DeleteI think that Montreal could have moved march break to the same as Ontario but it does not make a difference to me except if the weather changed like if it got warmer because I like to do winter sports like snowboarding. Since I never go anywhere in quarantine and since we have a curfew nothing changes for march break as long as we atleast have a break soon it's fine for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that our March break should be changed to end of April because we've all been waiting for that one week and it's almost here, it's not called April break for a reason am i right? but i honestly wouldn't be surprised if they did since they're has already been so many changes throughout 2020 and now 2021 too. if they did change it though, i would be disappointed because it's literally RIGHT around the corner.....2 more days!!! and we really deserve it too ( i just want to be able to relax as well ) :)

DeleteTo be honest, I don't think it would make much of a difference and I don't really see the point of pushing March break back a few weeks. It's not like anything going to change in those weeks, except the weather. The only advantage that I see is being able to do more things when the weather gets nicer, but isn't the whole point of the lock down to keep people from going places, inside at least. So if we do move it back, I will probably cry :). We need a break, a mental break. I'm pretty sure most people are feeling overwhelmed and pretty stressed over everything. Both situations have pros and cons, but I really hope we don't push March break back.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't think that it's going to change much how the world is going. If anything, it's going to be worse. Especially with what has been happening in the world for the past 2 months, both teachers and students need a break to be able to just relax. Some people get to work from home, but schools are one of the biggest breeding grounds for the virus, as many people who have covid still go to school, who passes it to the teachers, and then different classrooms, meaning that the other teachers that go into that classroom continue spreading the virus, and all of a sudden the entire school is infected. Obviously that's not what has happened so far, but there is always a chance that the school has an outbreak. Back on topic though, I think that pushing it back will affect both student and teacher mental health, along with it not helping with the people who are going to be going on vacation are just going to postpone it.

If the break were to change my parents would probably be angry since we have already made plans for the March break. As well I have been really looking forward to this break and I’m sure many others have too. So changing the date of the break would make not only some parents angry but the students as well.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to march break, so if we where to move it it would make me pretty sad. I do also see the reasoning of making the virus spread slower because it gets hotter and all that but honestly we are all annoyed and fed up with this enough I just think we should get the week off. If it does happen I would be pretty sad and all but I doubt it will happen since its so close and everyone has planned their march break out already.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Quebec should follow what Ontario's doing because personally I really need a week off to “ rejuvenate” So if it was to come any later I don't know if I would be able to survive also I think instead of moving it back like Ontario we should just have a week or two after March break online just like we did during Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI dont think they should've moved march break to April because i think its time for a break and were all looking forward to one ,i think were all used to looking forward to this time and it'd be really sad if we would have to wait for it even longer i also dont think it would have made a big deal even if we did move it.I think breaks are well seperated as it is and it would ruin things if we moved it.
